My Jaw drops both palms to forehead, fingers splayed I call out Fatimaa! How did u?
I Fly to use the washroom at home leaving my desktop on with youtube rolling in the browser and on my arrival what do i encounter, my armchair inhabited and some one engrossed, gazing at her beloved cartoon, her itsy- bitsy hands can barely reach the mouse let alone operate it and run through videos or was it “A – B – R – A – C – A – D – A – B – R – A “ that she crushed a key on the keyboard and voila the show that she’s smitten with is suddenly streaming, wonders will never cease?
Ya Mommy I did it (with pride) a broad mischievous smile exposing her bunny teeth out, head tilted angelically, eyes and nose crinkling.”Don’t worry mommy humne lagaya, I poot it”
I went few pages back only to find out she had been through a couple of cartoons? I was lost for words (If I had words, I would be saying them)
Raising a child has unlocked a new spectrum of emotions that I have not experienced before: watching my daughter discover things for the first time is sheer joy , motherhood is a gift.
Kids are really accelerated these days they soak in information. They are razor-sharp observers, taking in with all of their senses whatever crosses their path. Their brain burns much more glucose than an adult’s brain ..inexhaustibly curious sponge-minds.
The other day she unlocked her Dad’s phone (although It was a Himalayan blunder to keep that easy a password) 0000 who keep’s that!
And when once she barged in the room stubbing my toes against the door and blood started oozing out..conscious of what’s happening, she got all apologetic and started sobbing & blowing “maamma tumko chot (hurt) laga” and then, after a little while she started breathing rapidly holding her own toes and weeping , feeling she’s the one who’s been bruised … this was an accentuated empathy as if her own sense of touch had been activated by just watching what’s happening to me Mama look it’s bleeding in here, pointing at her own toes. The emotions were so strong and she wasn’t pretending.
mirror-touch synesthesia.???
Everyday is a new discovery! And the world is her oyster!
